Description

Program Overview

North Glenora Community League (NGCL) is pleased to announce a new program to help prepare your children for the outdoor soccer season.

This program is open to kids in U8 – U12 levels but will be geared for approximately U10 level of play (U8 kids should be prepared for a challenge while some U12 kids might find it relatively basic). Regardless, this is a great opportunity for kids to get some conditioning and practice for the 2016 outdoor soccer season.

Each day will consist of fitness training, skill development, drills and games. This program is not a babysitting service. Children are expected to participate in all activities and be interested in developing their soccer skills.

A juice box and fruit will be provided as a snack each day.

Parents are responsible for drop off and pick up of children. There will be no supervision before or after the program times.

Dates / Times / Location

This program will run during the week of April 25-29. It will run from 3:30 - 5:30 during weekdays (Thursdays will start at 2:00 and end at 5:00).

In addition, a fun mini-tournament will occur during the morning of Saturday, April 30th (9:30 - 11:30).

The program will occur outdoors in the fields around the North Glenora community hall (based out of the rink shack). Children should come prepared for all types of weather. Proper footwear (e.g. cleats) and clothing are required. Students should also bring a water bottle each day.

Coordinators

This program will be led by two university students who will working for our community league under the provincial Serving Communities in Partnership (SCIP) grant program:

Emilie Toews

- Captain of the King’s University Eagles (Soccer) 2014 – Present

- The King’s University Eagles Athlete of the Year 2014-2015

- ACAC All-Conference Athlete (Soccer) 2014-2015

David Freund

- The King’s University Eagles Soccer Team 2013 - Present

- Modena FC (Edmonton Men’s Soccer) Team

- Coach, Memorial Composite High School Soccer Team (Stony Plain)

This program is specifically geared for NGCL members. A limited number of spaces have been set aside for non-NGCL members (who must be a community league member in their neighbourhood). If the spaces for the NGCL members fills, spaces for the non-NGCL members will be removed if not already taken.

NGCL strives to provide financially accessible programs while ensuring that costs cover all operating and overhead expenses. Any profits generated from this program will be directed towards general revenue of NGCL so that it can continue to provide programming for the North Glenora community. Refunds will not be provided after April 23rd.
